The Terra Hall Windows Project

Temple University University College, in partnership with the School of Theater, Film and Media Arts, is turning the four two-story windows of Terra Hall into a massive canvas for the work of students, faculty and alumni.

The project represents an early embodiment of President John Fry’s vision for Temple’s role in the arts and cultural life of Center City. As the southern anchor of Temple’s innovation corridor, Terra Hall will strengthen the University’s presence along the Avenue of the Arts and create new opportunities to connect Temple’s creativity, scholarship, and expertise with the city and its communities.

While this is currently a pilot program, we hope that it will expand into an ongoing, unique opportunity to exhibit works by the Temple community.

A Portal to the City

The Terra Hall Windows Project invites students and members of the Temple community to create moving images that act as a portal to Philadelphia, exploring the city’s past and present while imagining what its future could look like. The project features work from students and alumni across disciplines, including film and media arts, dance, music, animation and interactive exhibition design.

The windows will host a rotating program of media, with new works appearing as they are completed. The result is an evolving nighttime experience that changes with the creative work happening at Temple.

The Terra Hall Windows Project is supported by a team of curators – Ellie Koo, Keamo Mokone, Sarah Drury and Zach Vickers, faculty and staff, with Film and Media Arts Digital Cinema Specialist Ian Curry working alongside Facilities and Terra Hall staff to bring the technical installation to life. Additional installations are in development and will join the project in the months ahead.
