Module One: The Disease Of Addiction

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  1. Distinguish between substance use as a choice and a disease

  2. Describe how the brain is impacted by substance use and abuse

  3. Name at least 3 of the 6 stages of change

Module Two: Stigma Reduction

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe social and professional stigma as it relates to substance abuse

  2. Identify stigmatized language in the workplace

  3. List 4 ways to address stigma in the workplace

Module 3: Key Elements Of Motivational Interviewing Strategies

At the end of this module, participants will be able to:

  1. Paraphrase a definition of motivational interviewing

  2. List the 4 basic skills necessary for an effective MI conversation

  3. List the 4 processes that frame the MI conversation

Continuing Education

This e-learning series has been approved for 1 continuing education hour through co-sponsorship of Temple University Harrisburg, a PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselor pre-approved provider of continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC biennial license renewal. Certificates of attendance documenting continuing education hours will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg.
