View Course Dates and Register

The Institute on Protective Services is now accepting registrations for the current fiscal year Protective Services Investigator courses.  These trainings are open to Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging staff only.

Protective Service Five Year Refresher

This one-day training will refresh and review critical elements of doing protective services in the Commonwealth, including investigative techniques, regulatory requirements, guardianship and power of attorney laws, etc.

The Department of Aging is requiring all Protective Service Investigators to take this course every 5 years in addition to their annual enrichment training (This course does not count as enrichment credits). This year, all PS Investigators and PS Supervisors with 5 years of experience must attend one of the classes.

Protective Service Basic Training

This three and a half day course is the mandatory training for staff that will conduct protective service investigations. The training is focused on the basic knowledge and tools that AAA staff need to know to conduct thorough and comprehensive investigations. Training modules are based on OAPSA and related regulations. Participants must complete all three and a half days of training to receive credit. We are excited about offering smaller class sizes and more frequent trainings.

Protective Service Enrichment Training

This one-day training will be offered in eight locations in the Fall and eight locations in the Spring. There will be Four Key Topics, presented by four different engaging presenters. The Department of Aging is requiring all Protective Service Investigators to take this course annually (in addition to fulfilling Five Year Refresher Training when applicable). All PS Investigators and PS Supervisors must attend one of the classes.

Protective Service Supervisor Enrichment

Please note, when registering for the first time for a course, all staff attending these trainings must create an individual profile with a unique user name and password. Phone registrations, emails, faxes or group requests will not be accepted as a form of registration.
