Temple University Center City (TUCC) has awarded its first recipient with the newly established scholarship for undergraduate students. Ahmad Khalid, a 3rd year student in the Fox School of Business who moved to the United States with his family five years ago is the appreciative recipient. Mr. Khalid began his college career at Bucks County Community College where he earned an associate degree and later enrolled at Temple as a transfer student. He is majoring in Management and Information Systems and expects to graduate in December 2022. Mr. Khalid is taking several of his classes at the center city campus. Like many of the students this campus serves, he is balancing his educational efforts with work and family responsibilities. When notified that he is the first recipient of this award, Mr. Khalid acknowledged that “this journey was tough for me especially because of financial burdens” and he is very grateful for the support.
Scholarship recipients must be matriculating undergraduates at Temple who are taking fifty percent (or more) of their classes at the center city campus and who have unmet financial need. Staff and friends of the campus contributed the funds to award this first scholarship to a student for the fall 2021 semester. Fundraising for 2022 will begin later this month with a goal of awarding several additional scholarships next fall and eventually establishing an endowment.
